Jump to RecipeWhat is a Chaffle?
If you’re already following a keto or low-carb diet, you’ve probably already heard of these infamous waffle substitutes made out of cheese and eggs.
Chaffles are a savory take on what would usually be a sweet and fluffy waffle drizzled with syrup. Instead, they’re a savory and flexible keto-friendly breakfast, made up of only a few ingredients you likely already have in your fridge and pantry. Add extra flavor by including your favorite ingredients, such as sausage, peppers, or green onions.
Let your imagination take control as you create your own version of these Easy Keto Bacon Chaffles!
The Savory Alternative to Sweet Waffles
I would never diss traditional waffles because they’re classic and absolutely delicious, but with dietary needs becoming more and more prevalent, less and less people are able to enjoy them. Covering all the bases as keto, low-carb, and gluten-free, Easy Keto Bacon Chaffles are a great mimic to regular waffles and are still chock-full of craving-crushing ingredients. A foolproof choice for a hearty meal, chaffles can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Helpful Tips For Making Easy Keto Bacon Chaffles
Instead of whisking the ingredients and dealing with a potential mess, save yourself time during prep and clean up by pulsing the ingredients in a blender before cooking. Add the eggs, cheese, baking powder, and almond flour to the blender for the first six to eight pulses. This will scramble the eggs without pulverizing the cheese. Then add your additions, such as meat or veggies, for the last two or three pulses.
If you don’t own a waffle iron, check out the one I own here. I love that it’s easy to use and a great price. While prepping the ingredients, pre-heat your iron. It should be hot enough to cook the Easy Keto Bacon Chaffle batter as soon as it touches. Cook each chaffle for 3 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
If you want to enjoy your breakfast hot and fresh off the iron, prep your toppings early. Chaffles are best served hot and gooey, so once they’re done cooking, top them with your favorite ingredients immediately. If serving your family or guests, place a variety of toppings in small or medium bowls so everyone can choose their favorites.
