Using a fork, poke the chicken all over to help the marinade get in.
In a small bowl, add all the marinade ingredients and whisk together to combine. Reserve ¼ cup of marinade.
Add the marinade to the chicken; mix around to combine well, cover and marinate for 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours. Refrigerate if not planning to cook the chicken within 2 hours.
Remove chicken from marinade and transfer 4 chicken thighs to the air fryer; you’ll have to cook in 2 batches.
Cook for 8 minutes; flip the chicken over and continue to cook for 6 more minutes. Remove and set aside.
Continue with the rest of the chicken.
While the chicken cooks, place the reserved sauce in a small pot and cook over medium-low heat until it reduces slightly and thickens, about 1 to 2 minutes. Set aside.
When ready to serve the chicken, add your favorite sides along with the chicken, drizzle with the thickened sauce, sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds.
