This 6-ingredient, 20-minute taco skillet is a busy parent’s best friend! Spicy ground beef, hearty black beans, and gooey melted cheddar come together in one skillet of pure deliciousness. Finish it with a dollop of sour cream, fresh cilantro, and crunchy tortilla chips for a quick, crowd-pleasing meal.
Bring a heavy bottomed skillet to medium-high heat, add the ground beef and cook for 2 minutes, breaking up the meat as it cooks. Remove the meat and set a side.
Put the skillet back on to medium heat, add the onions and cook for 5 minutes until translucent, stirring often.
Add the ground beef back in the skillet along with the taco seasoning. Mix to combine.
Add the drained and rinsed beans, salsa and 1 cup cheddar cheese. Mix to combine.
Top the skillet with the remaining ½ cup of cheese, and transfer it to the oven. Broil for a few minutes so the cheese gets nice and bubbly and browns (watch it carefully so it doesn’t burn).
Serve immediately with sour cream, chopped cilantro and tortilla chips or any additional toppings you like. Enjoy!
