This 10-minute Yogurt Custard Toast is an easy breakfast you can make in the air fryer or oven. Topped with fresh berries and a 3-ingredient custard, every bite is buttery, sweet, and tangy. It’s a viral TikTok recipe for good reason!
In a small bowl add Greek yogurt, honey and egg. Whisk together to combine.
Using a spoon, press the centers of the brioche slices to create a well for the custard.
Spoon the custard to each toast.
Then add in the sliced strawberries and blueberries. You can also swap out for your favorite berries.
Place toasts in the air fryer and bake for 10 mins.
Remove and sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with honey or maple syrup. Serve with extra fruit.
Oven Method
Preheat the oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Use above steps 2-5.
Add the toasts and bake for 10-15 minutes.
Remove and sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with honey or maple syrup. Serve with extra fruit.
Notes
Use thick brioche slices. They hold the custard well and stay soft inside while the edges get lightly toasted.
Choose thick yogurt. Greek yogurt gives the custard a creamy consistency and helps prevent it from running off the bread.
Make a shallow well. Gently press the center of each brioche slice with a spoon, leaving the edges intact to hold the custard.
Whisk the custard well. Combine the yogurt, egg, and honey until smooth so the filling cooks evenly.
Don’t overfill the toast. Keep the custard inside the well so it doesn’t spill into the air fryer basket.
Slice fruit thinly. Smaller pieces cook more evenly and are less likely to weigh down the custard.
Preheat the air fryer. Starting at 380°F helps the bread toast while the custard sets.
Check for doneness. The custard should be set in the center and the brioche lightly golden since air fryer cooking times can vary.
Make a large batch in the oven. Double or triple the recipe and bake the slices on parchment-lined baking sheets at 400°F for 10 to 15 minutes.
Store leftovers properly. Refrigerate cooled toast in an airtight container for up to 2 days, then reheat it in the air fryer or oven to bring back its toasted texture.
