Ingredients
6
corn tortillas
6-inch
avocado oil spray
for coating
flaky sea salt
Instructions
Prepare the Tortillas:
Stack three tortillas on a cutting board.
Using a sharp knife, slice them in half lengthwise to create two equal halves.
Keeping the halves in a stack, cut one half into three equal triangles.
Repeat this process with the remaining tortillas.
Air Fry the Tortillas:
Place half of the cut tortillas in the air fryer basket, ensuring there's enough space for proper airflow.
Arrange them in a varied stack for even cooking.
Lightly spray the chips with avocado oil spray.
You may need to cook the tortilla chips in a couple of batches for optimal crispiness. Typically, two batches suffice for most air fryers.
Cook to Perfection:
Close the air fryer drawer and set the temperature to 400°F for 4 minutes.
After 4 minutes, open the drawer and rearrange the chips for even air circulation.
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Generally, 7 minutes should achieve perfect crispness, but adjust according to your preference.
Listen for the chips to start jumping as they near completion.
Season and Serve:
Sprinkle the freshly cooked chips with sea salt immediately.
Serve them with your favorite dip and enjoy.
Notes
Use corn tortillas for the best crunch and authentic flavor—they crisp up better than flour tortillas.
Cut your tortilla triangles as evenly as possible so they cook uniformly and finish at the same time.
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if needed to ensure proper air circulation and crispiness.
A light spray of avocado oil helps the chips get extra golden and crispy, but you can skip it for an oil-free option.
Rearrange or shake the chips halfway through cooking to promote even browning on all sides.
Listen for the chips to start jumping or rustling near the end—that’s a sign they’re getting crispy and almost done.
Season the chips right after cooking while they’re still hot so the salt (or other seasonings) sticks better.
Let the chips cool completely before storing to prevent them from getting soft or soggy in the container.
