Level up your lunchtime with this hearty and satisfying turkey club sandwich. It’s stacked with layers of oven-roasted turkey breast, crispy bacon, and an irresistible sun-dried tomato aioli.
Make the sun dried tomato mayo by adding the sun dried tomatoes, garlic and mayonnaise to a wide mouth mason jar and blend until smooth and combined.
Assemble the Turkey Club Sandwich
Lay out the slices of bread (or use a wrap), spread the sun dried tomato mayonnaise on each side of the bread.
Add the 3 slices of deli turkey per sandwich, then add 3 pieces of cooked bacon on top. Top with sun dried tomatoes, avocado slices and romaine lettuce leaves. For the wrap: If making the wrap, repeat the same process and tightly wrap it together, add toothpicks to keep it together and cut in half.
Sandwich the bread together and cut in half. Serve with a side salad or chips and enjoy.
Notes
Use good-quality bread. Sourdough, ciabatta, or multigrain bread adds great texture and flavor. Toast it lightly for a sturdier sandwich that holds the fillings well.
Blend the mayo until smooth. When making the sun-dried tomato mayonnaise, blend long enough for a creamy, uniform texture that spreads easily.
Layer strategically. Start with lettuce at the bottom to keep the bread from getting soggy, then add turkey, bacon, tomatoes, and avocado.
Use ripe avocado. Choose one that’s just soft enough to slice easily without falling apart. It adds creaminess that balances the savory fillings.
Cook the bacon until crisp. Crispy bacon adds crunch and prevents the sandwich from feeling too heavy or greasy.
Add toothpicks before slicing. They help keep the layers intact and make the sandwich easier to cut and serve neatly.
Make it a wrap. Swap the bread for a large tortilla, wrap tightly, and slice diagonally for a portable lunch option.
Customize your fillings. Try adding cheese, cucumbers, or roasted red peppers for extra layers of flavor.
Serve fresh. This sandwich tastes best right after assembly when the bread is crisp, the lettuce is crunchy, and the avocado is fresh.
