This Air Fryer Green Beans recipe is my favorite way to get crisp, flavorful veggies on the table fast. The beans turn out tender with just the right amount of bite, and the garlic adds a simple, savory finish. It works great for busy weeknights and even the holidays!

Instructions

  1. Prep green beans: Trim the ends off the green beans. Pat dry to help crisp up, then drizzle olive oil and sprinkle kosher salt.
  2. Air fry: Place the green beans in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 5 minutes.

  • Seasoning Options: I like to keep it simple with salt and garlic, but you can sprinkle on smoked paprika or even chili flakes. A little grated Parmesan at the end is great too.
  • Add-Ons: Toss in sliced almonds or chopped bacon after cooking for extra crunch. You can also mix in a handful of cherry tomatoes for color and sweetness.
  • Citrus Finish: Lemon is classic, but lime or even a splash of balsamic vinegar gives a fun change. I like to adjust depending on what I’m serving it with.

Yes, you can use frozen green beans if that’s what you have. Just thaw them first and pat them dry really well so they crisp up instead of steaming in the air fryer.

Do I need to preheat the air fryer?

Can I skip the garlic?

This Air Fryer Green Beans recipe is my favorite way to get crisp, flavorful veggies on the table fast. The beans turn out tender with just the right amount of bite, and the garlic adds a simple, savory finish. It works great for busy weeknights and even the holidays!

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh green beans, or haricots verts
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ lemon, wedged for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375F.
  • Trim off the ends of the green beans, dry them well if they are damp and add to a bowl.
  • Add olive oil and kosher salt to the green beans and toss together.
  • Place the green beans in the preheated air fryer and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic, toss the green beans and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  • Serve with lemon wedges and enjoy.

Notes

  • Dry the green beans well before cooking. Extra moisture can cause them to steam instead of crisp.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket. Give the beans space so the hot air can circulate and cook them evenly.
  • Toss halfway through. Shaking or stirring the beans helps them brown evenly on all sides.
  • Add the garlic later. Waiting until the last few minutes keeps it from burning and turning bitter.
  • Adjust the cook time slightly for thinner or thicker beans. Haricots verts may need a minute less.
  • Finish with lemon right before serving. The acidity brightens the flavor and balances the salt and garlic.
  • Use a light hand with oil. Too much can make the beans soggy instead of crisp.
